The Unitas 6497 and 6498 pocket watch movements manufactured today by ETA have become one of the most popular movements to use in new manual wind wristwatches.  This is quite an interesting development in Swiss watchmaking and has lent new life to the sturdy and accurate '64s, as I call them.  This page will highlight new watches being manufactured today using these Unitas movements.

Pacardt

Pacardt is a relatively new Swiss watch company.  The company has embraced the current trend of using the rugged 6497 and 6498 Unitas movements in a new line of its watches.  They make several different designs, of which this watch is one.  It is available with a stainless steel caseback or a see through caseback, which is shown here.   Here is the company's information on the watch:

Caliber 6497 lépine (swiss made)
Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds
Movement size: 36mm (16 ˝´´´) total diameter and 4,50mm thickness

Maurice Lacroix Calendrier Retrograde

Maurice Lacroix is a well-known Swiss watchmaking company known for its movement complications.  Their magnificent Calendar Retrograde is proof of this.  Maurice Lacroix's master watchmakers start with a 17 jewel Unitas 6498-1 movement and so extensively modify it that it results in a ML76 movement having 33 jewels.  The complications include a 31 day calendar indicator and a power reserve indicator.
